Hedley Nickel Plate
Start location: Oliver
Ride Type: Loop
Date Ridden: July 2018
Distance: 157 km
Elevation: 3,219 m
Surface: Mostly road with two gravel climbs (Fairview, Apex)
Why do this ride: The Hedley Nickel Plate climb ("Apex the Hard Way") is a must do gravel climb. White Lake grasslands are awesome.
Difficulty: Long with lots of elevation but otherwise nothing out of the ordinary, smooth well maintained gravel climbs.
Other notes: Be sure to stock up with water and food before starting the Apex climb. We didn't do our homework, were lucky to find a connected garden hose at Apex resort but finding food took much longer (only when we were back down at highway). We didn't yet have handle bar bags to carry stuff back then, LOL. This can also be done as two separate much shorter loops from Keremeos, tackling the Fairview and Apex climbs individually.
