Columbia & Western Rail Trail
Start location: Christina Lake
Ride Type: Loop
Date Ridden: July 2020
Distance: 134 km
Elevation: 2,217 m
Surface: Mix road and gravel
Why do this ride: Views over Arrow Lake, railway trestles, Bulldog Tunnel.
Difficulty: Lots of elevation but otherwise straightforward.
Other notes: Rode this as a loop doing Paulson Pass early morning to avoid traffic; the highway shoulder sucks with major potholes and cracks so beware. Make sure not to miss the Shields FSR turnoff. There are no real water supply options so stock up if it is a hot day. The seeps coming down the tunnel entrance are nice and refreshing though, so good to cool down.
