Relay Creek
Start location: Gold Bridge
Ride Type: Out and Back
Date Ridden: July 2021
Distance: 93 km
Elevation: 2,297 m
Surface: Gravel
Why do this ride: Awesome mountain scenery, Relay Creek Cabin.
Difficulty: Hard. The approach to Relay Creek is fine but then things turn gnarly with a major washout (pictured) and bushwacking near the end (pictured). Expect hike a bike in these sections. This is one of the slowest rides posted on this site.
Other notes: The goal was the historic Relay Creek Cabin (remote cabin for Gang Ranch operations). The cabin was supposedly within about 2 km from the bushwack section but we never got there; things turn properly mountain bike like there and we may have been off the main trail. Despite the missed destination and hardness of ride, the typical Chilcotin mountain scenery was still awesome. The initially missed turn left towards Relay Creek made for a fair amount of extra climbing up the Mud Creek FSR.
